School of Nursing, Devamatha Hospital, Koothattukulam attached to Devamatha Hospital Koothattukulam is administered by the Adoration Medical Trust, Pala. The main aim of the school is holistic formation and education of professional nurses upholding Christian and social values. The Devamatha Nursing School was started in the year 1994 with an intake of 20 students, at present annual intake 30 students. The School is recognized by Indian Nursing Council & Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council.

VISION

To see the Eucharistic Lord in the faces of the physically, mentally, spiritually wounded and give them the compassionate touch of the Lord and lead them to the joy of resurrection.

Educate young girls to provide quality health care for the humanity irrespective of caste, creed and color to achieve health and well-being.

GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE 
1.   The candidate on completion of this course will be able to:
  • a. Assess the nursing need of clients from birth to death.
  • b. Plan and carry out appropriate action to meet nursing needs.
  • c. Provide effective nursing care to maintain best possible level of health in all aspects.
  • d. Promote self care in people under their care.
  • e. Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care.
2.   Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a      
      nurse.
3.   Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge
      of   human relations and communication skill in their work.
4.   Participate as member of the health team in delivery of curative, preventive, promotive and
      rehabilitative health care services.
5.  Demonstrate use of ethical values in their personal and professional life.
6.   Demonstrate interest in activities of professional organization.
7.   Recognize the need for continuing education for professional development. 
8.   Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving nursing care to them.
9.   Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with    other members
      of health team and community. 
10.  Assist in research activities.

It gives me great pleasure to reach out to you through this website on behalf of Devamatha School of Nursing.

Nursing education empowers one to lift oneself from darkness to light. Devamatha School of Nursing established in the year 1994. This School of Nursing offers three years course in General Nursing and Midwifery with the approval of Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and Indian Nursing Council. The nursing programmes focus on equipping and channelizing the knowledge, attitude, skills and potentials of the students effectively and efficiently to provide quality health care. The students are prepared intensively for maintaining professional standards and facilitating them for quality nursing practice by a team of qualified, experienced and committed teaching faculty. We are committed to inculcate strong moral and ethical values in our students which are essential for a nurse. Our mission is to produce competent, caring and compassionate Nursing Professionals who will go out into the world and make us proud. I welcome all the new students and wish them success through their academic journey out of our school as successful nursing professional.
